Julia Lininger-White is a graduate of Middlebury College, where she studied History and Global Health. Her study of Portuguese, along with a semester in Lisbon, gave her a strong appreciation for Portugal and prepared her for her role as an English Teaching Assistant at Egas Moniz School of Health and Science, in Almada, where she is strengthening local ties through education during this academic year.

Julia shares some highlights of her Fulbright experience so far:

«As an English Teaching Assistant at Egas Moniz School of Health and Science in Almada, I’ve had the opportunity to teach English to incredibly thoughtful and hardworking professors, staff, and students. I especially enjoy our small, conversational classes, which create space for connection and cultural exchange.

My engagement with both my host school and the greater Lisbon community has made this experience especially rewarding. Outside the classroom, I’ve become involved in many of the activities Lisbon offers – from tennis and running, to a Portuguese practice group, a book club, and a weekly volunteer shift with the Lisbon Project, which supports the integration of refugees and immigrants.»

– Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Julia!
