«During my time in Boston as a Fulbrighter, I gained so much more than just academic experience. I grew as a researcher, and I also forged meaningful, long-lasting relationships.

At Boston College, I was involved in many activities organized by my department (such as staff meetings, lectures, and symposia). These events were invaluable for building and developing new collaborations as well as creating bridges between the Institute for Advanced Jesuit Studies (BC) and the Centre for Classical Studies (FLUL). I’m proud to say that I have met some of the best colleagues I have worked with, and I will keep working with them for a long time.

Being in a new place where you don’t know anyone can feel overwhelming, but it can also strengthen your confidence and give you the opportunity to connect with different people and new cultures. It might surprise you how easy it is to make new friends.

Alongside my roommates, I could experience the American way of life and the strong sense of community they all love and cherish. It was one of the best experiences I had.

Despite the fear of being alone, if I had to do it all over again, I would. I met some great people and made friends for life.

I came back to Portugal with the certainty that this was a life-changing experience, and I would definitely recommend it to everyone!

Thanks again for the opportunity, Fulbright Portugal!»
