(Hiking in the mountains)
«As a Fulbright fellow at the Biofrontiers Institute from the University of Colorado Boulder, I had the opportunity to progress with my PhD research, where working in a new laboratory allowed me to deepen my scientific knowledge and learn new experimental techniques.
Beyond the lab, I participated in cultural activities that helped me connect with people from all over the world and gain a better understanding of American traditions—celebrating holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, where I tried classic American dishes, carved a pumpkin and enjoyed marshmallows and chocolate by the fireplace, and Christmas. At Christmas, I joined a group of international friends for a celebration that included a ‘White Elephant’ gift exchange. The Colorado Fulbright Chapter also organised a holiday lunch. I also spent New Year’s Eve with international friends.
Outdoor activities were a big part of my experience. I hiked in the mountains, tried climbing, camping and snowshoeing – each of which gave me the opportunity to connect with nature and embrace Colorado’s adventurous spirit.
I am sincerely grateful to Fulbright for making this experience possible.»
