Ao abrigo de uma Bolsa Fulbright para Investigação com o apoio da FCT e no âmbito do seu doutoramento em ‘Biology’ da Universidade Nova de Lisboa-FCT / Centro de Cuidados Inovadores e Tecnologia da Saúde (ciTechCare) do Politécnico de Leiria, Ana Isabel Roque desenvolveu parte da sua pesquisa sobre “Celiac Disease’s Autoimmunity Mechanisms possibly mediated by bacteria” no Massachusetts General Hospital for Children, Harvard Medical School, MA, EUA.

«My Fulbright experience at Massachusetts General Hospital was the best opportunity for growth in every sense, and the most rewarding experience of my career and personal life thus far. It broadened my perspective and allowed me to forge new connections. I built up my portfolio of technical know-how and improved foundational skills, like communication, collaboration and adaptability, but also gained more confidence as a researcher. I learned more about American culture but also realized the incredible value of a multicultural society and workplace.
