Amy Inestroza, Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at Universidade da Madeira, was one of the participants to the 2026 Fulbright Seminar on the European Union and NATO, where she proudly represented Portugal.
Amy shares with us how impactful this participation has been for her future goals:
«Attending the Fulbright EU-NATO Seminar was a truly transformative experience. The seminar brought together about 50 Fulbrighters from across Europe, creating a space for honest and thoughtful conversations about current geopolitics, transatlantic relations, leadership, and the role of European institutions.

Throughout the week, we visited key institutions in Luxembourg and Belgium, such as the European Parliament, the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg, the European Court of Justice, NATO Headquarters, and the European Commission. Additionally, we participated in briefings and discussions on intercultural diplomacy, the importance of strong relationships between the United States and EU member states, and what it means to empower the next generation of leaders.

One of the most meaningful parts of the seminar was the opportunity to connect with Foreign Service Officers, EU judges, Fulbright alumni, and fellow Fulbrighters from so many different backgrounds. Hearing their stories and perspectives was a powerful reminder of how much dialogue, collaboration, and cultural understanding can contribute to peace and cooperation.

As a young professional committed to promoting peace and advocating for social justice, this seminar was both inspiring and affirming. I am deeply grateful to the Fulbright Portugal Commission for nominating me for such a meaningful and memorable opportunity.»

– Thank you, Amy, for representing Portugal so well!
