On June 22, the Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Fulbright Commission hosted the Fulbright Portugal Award Ceremony, honouring the Portuguese cohort of Fulbright grantees of Academic Year 2026–2027. The event was hosted by the Secretary of State for European Affairs, Inês Domingos, representing the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, and by the U.S. Ambassador to Portugal, Ambassador John J. Arrigo.

Held at the magnificent Palácio das Necessidades, the ceremony celebrated the merit, achievements, and promise of an exceptional group of Portuguese grantees. The cohort represents 15 fields of study, comes from nine home institutions, and will be hosted by 17 institutions across 13 U.S. states. These wide-ranging academic and institutional connections reflect the strength of the transatlantic partnership in higher education and scientific collaboration, as well as the vibrant cultural and artistic exchanges that continue to enrich and connect our two countries.

Congratulations to all the grantees! We wish you every success and a truly rewarding Fulbright experience in the year ahead.
