Fulbright ETA Yennifer Coca Izquierdo was Portugal’s representative to the 2025 Fulbright ETA Enrichment Seminar that took place in Luxembourg on April 21-24, 2025. Here Yennifer shares how impactful this experience was:
«Attending the “From ETA to Educator” seminar in Luxembourg was an unforgettable experience.
Representing Fulbright Portugal alongside over 30 English Teaching Assistants from across Europe, I participated in engaging discussions on intercultural diplomacy, English teaching through science-based practices, and how to support student learning through project-based approaches.
We had the chance to visit the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg, where we met with Fulbright alumni, Foreign Service Officers, and local education leaders. We also spent time at Miami University’s European Center, learning about practical teaching strategies for young professionals and ways to empower students in and beyond the classroom. One of the highlights was visiting an international school in Luxembourg, which gave us insight into diverse educational environments.
Our trip to Schengen was especially meaningful, where we learned about the history and impact of the Schengen Agreement on European mobility and cooperation.
I’m grateful to the Fulbright Commission Portugal for nominating me for this incredible opportunity. It was both inspiring and energizing to connect with fellow educators who share a commitment to cultural exchange and mutual understanding. I look forward to bringing these lessons and new perspectives back into the classroom at Egas Moniz School of Health and Science.»
– Thank you, Yennifer!
