Overview
The Fulbright Schuman Program Awards Scholarships to American citizens for research in the European Union with a focus on EU Affairs/Policy or the US-EU Transatlantic Agenda.
The Fulbright Schuman Program is administered by the Fulbright Commission in Belgium and is jointly financed by the U.S. Department of State and the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission.

Candidate Profile
Grants are available for American students, scholars and professionals, including professionals in training – decision-makers, policy-makers, individuals in industry, the media, politics, academia, and public administration.
Preference is given to candidates who will divide their time between host institutions in at least two EU member states so that their projects reflect a pan-European perspective.
Preference is also given to applicants with two years of relevant professional or academic experience beyond the Bachelor’s degree who plan to carry out their project in at least two EU member states. However, project proposals including only one city or university program with significant ties to European Union institutions and studies will be considered.
Award Requirements
Grant Activity: Study, research, or lecture on a topic relevant to U.S.-EU relations, EU policy, or EU institutions.
Grant Location: European Union Countries.
Candidates are responsible for arranging their own host affiliation and must submit letters of invitation/affiliation with their applications. Candidates must arrange their own placement at an accredited university, vocational training/professional institution, or independent research center.
Grant Duration and Dates
Grant Duration: Grants range from 6 to 9 months (for students) and from 3 to 9 months (for scholars).
Grant Dates: Any time during the academic year; For candidates without a PhD (pre-doctoral research), preference is given to those who will complete one academic year (continuous stay).

US STUDENTS: Applications must be submitted through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program website, https://us.fulbrightonline.org. Deadline for Applications is October 11, 2022, for AY 2022/2023.
US SCHOLARS: Applications must be submitted through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program website, https://cies.org/programs/us-scholar-awards. Deadline for Applications is September 15, 2022, for AY 2023/2024.
Applicants who are recommended by the National Screening Committee of IIE or CIES will be contacted by the Fulbright Commission in Brussels and interviewed via Skype.
