Dr. Nina Mahmoudian is an associate professor and B.F.S. Schafer Scholar of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. She received her Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech. As a National Science Foundation Early CAREER Recipient and an Office of Naval Research Young Investigator, Dr. Mahmoudian has accomplished a transformative body of work on the persistent autonomy of mobile robots and maritime systems. Her research is focused on creating deployable autonomous distributed systems that complete long-term missions without human intervention and despite dynamic environmental challenges. Her work has lowered cost, increased efficiency, and boosted endurance enabling continuous monitoring and understanding of the oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers.
