Dr. Ligia Collado-Vides is a Full Teaching-Researcher Professor and marine botanist at the Florida International University. Her laboratory and team address local, regional, and global macroalgal-related ecological questions and issues, from quantifying and comparing carbon contribution and calcareous algae in South Florida and Yucatan to Atlantic-wide macroalgal blooms. Her students participate in global initiatives to understand complex and urgent marine environmental problems. She has 30 years of experience teaching courses in Marine Biology and management of coastal ecosystems. She is an advocate for international collaborations as the best way to address present global environmental problems.
