Luiza Kinzerska-Martinez is a 2021/2022 Fulbright English Teaching Assistant at Egas Moniz HES, in Almada, Portugal. She earned an M.A. in Latin American Studies at UCLA, where she explored her research interests in gender, social justice, and human rights by writing a thesis on gender-based violence and its effects on policy implementation in Central American countries. Having developed a fascination for the Portuguese language throughout her academic career, Luiza was especially drawn to Portugal’s Fulbright program. She looks forward to immersing herself into the local culture, speaking Portuguese daily, engaging with others through volunteer service and leadership, and teaching students in Portugal.
