Ivan Gitsov (Ivanov) is Professor of Polymer Chemistry at the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and Director of The Michael M. Szwarc Polymer Research Institute in Syracuse, New York. He received his Ph.D. in polymer science from Institute of Polymers at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. His research interests include the design of new environmentally friendly polymerization procedures and the synthesis of novel macromolecular structures of biomedical and bioanalytical significance. His studies placed him among the top 2% of the most cited scientists in the world. Dr. Gitsov is a Cottrell Scholar and received the 2017 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals and is the US-regional editor of Current Organic Chemistry.
