Valéria Gomes is a Materials Engineering PhD student at University of Minho. Her work focuses on the development of plasmonic dehydropeptide-based lipogels for multimodal treatment of melanoma. At this stage, she will conduct research at Brandeis University in collaboration with Professor Bing Xu. With emphasis on enzyme-instructed self-assembly (EISA), her project entails synthesizing tailored fluorescent dehydropeptides to target the Golgi apparatus of cancer cells, achieving selective and in situ assembly of such compounds. By blending synthetic expertise with EISA knowledge, Valéria aims to unlock novel insights into specific cytotoxicity, laying the groundwork for innovative cancer treatments. Driven by a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration, she embodies the spirit of scientific exploration and societal impact.
