André Gomes holds a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Robotics, Systems and Control at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. As a Visiting Student Researcher at the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, he will focus on advancing autonomous drone technology through learning-based and adaptive control strategies. His project is dedicated to overcoming the challenges associated with achieving precise flight and agile maneuvers, which are essential for establishing the ubiquity and reliability of this technology in critical domains such as search and rescue, infrastructure monitoring, and exploration.
