António is a PhD student in Physical Engineering at University of Aveiro and International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL). António is working on the development and optimization of light management strategies in Cu(In,Ga)Se2 second generation solar cells, with the aim of improving their performance while lowering production costs of PV modules. The collaborative research with University of Delaware aims to optimize the optoelectronic performance of CdTe solar cells, a particular second-generation technology, by the development of absorbers with bandgap gradients. Besides studying a different solar cell architecture, this research will provide António the possibility to increase the know-how in absorber layer growth and fundamental characterization, whilst enabling to implement and expand the knowledge that he has been developing in light management of photovoltaic devices.
