Miguel Rito is a Ph.D student in Biosciences at the University of Coimbra, focused in Plant Pathology and Biotechnology. His project main goal is to functionally analyse exosome-like vesicles in multihost-pathogen interactions in tomato plants. With the work to be developed at University of California, Riverside, his objective is to better understand the role of such extracellular vesicles during Phytophthora infestans infection response and to use that knowledge in the development of more sustainable and environmentally friendly strategies for plant protection.
