Ana Rita Matos is a PhD student at Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde (i3S). As a BiotechHealth student, she will visit and work with Gustavo Mostoslavsky at the Center for Regenerative Medicine (CReM) in Boston University. Here, Rita will be trained in the establishment of patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells and organoids. She will then apply this knowledge in her PhD project: “The primary genetic cause and beyond: life-time risk and phenotype modifiers in Hereditary Diffuse Gastric Cancer-HDGC” to establish the first biobank for patients with this rare cancer syndrome at i3S and the CHUSJ Hospital in Porto, Portugal.
