Na primeira pessoa,  Tiago Fernandes  partilha connosco a sua experiência Fulbright. Ao abrigo de uma Bolsa Fulbright para Investigação com o apoio da FCT (22/23) e no âmbito do seu doutoramento em Biomedical Engineering da Universidade de Lisboa, Tiago desenvolveu parte da sua pesquisa no Ichan Medical School at Mount Sinai, NY, EUA.

«My Fulbright program was simply a wonder. I moved to New York to do an internship at Ichan Medical School at Mount Sinai. It was a great opportunity to develop my boundaries in both research and cultural awareness.

When we are young, we are told to explore outside of our comfort zone, the most impressive thing is that even with the many times you have done it in the past, you can always go further and beyond. The Fulbright program just upgraded my necessity of going out of my bubble into a new comfort. New York City proved to be just the ideal scenario for boosting my Ph.D. while also exploring one of the most fascinating cities in the world. In the end, it was a holistic experience, and I think that is just the key factor of the Fulbright program. To give you a chance to grow holistically. I am now with a stronger networking in research, a more clear view of world trends, new exciting relationships, and a new cultural perspective.

In the end, it was an experience that made me grow into new dreams while looking forward to the future.
