Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Aidan Goddu shares with us how his first weeks in Aveiro have been:

My first weeks in Portugal

Although I’ve only been in Portugal a short time, I’ve greatly enjoyed being here. Walking through the historic streets upon beautifully patterned cobblestone roads has charmed me beyond what I could have first imagined. The seemingly endless museums, historic sites, and natural sights are myriad places for me to explore and educate myself. Aveiro has proven to be a charming city, with picturesque canals populated by colorful boats lazily floating along full of wide-eyed sightseers.

My supervisor, Andreia, has been far more patient, helpful, kind and generous than I could have possibly imagined. Her guiding hand has helped me acclimate to my responsibilities as an ETA and enlightened me about the best spots in town to get a cup of coffee or bite to eat. The students at the University of Aveiro have been patient and enthusiastic, and I’ve already come to enjoy their company. I’m eagerly looking forward to doing my best as an instructor here, and have begun to approach my work here with new vigor.

Well done, Aidan, we wish you an unforgettable journey!
