U.S Fulbright Grantee Bushra Rahman was selected as a representative of the Fulbright Program in Portugal to participate in the 2024 EU-US Young Leaders Seminar on the Security Implications of Climate Change in Brussels, Belgium on 20-22 March 2024.

This annual seminar brings together 50 young European and American leaders to Brussels to discuss a common key topic or challenge facing the European Union and United States. Participants are current beneficiaries of the U.S. Fulbright program and recent alumni of the Erasmus+ and Marie Skłowdowska-Curies programs. Participants get to know the EU institutions and meet with EU representatives working on transatlantic relations, all while experiencing the capital of the EU. The seminar is co-organized by the Delegation of the European Union to the United States, the U.S. Department of State, the German Marshall Fund of the U.S., the Fulbright Commission in Brussels, and the Directorate-General for Education and Culture of the European Commission.

In Bushra’s own words: “I was immensely honored to be a part of this eye-opening seminar. Listening to the expert opinions and unique perspectives of panelists and speakers was both enlightening and inspiring. Additionally, meeting and networking with fellow participants from across the United States and European Union, including Fulbright U.S. Student Program grantees, Erasmus+ and Erasmus Mundus students, and Marie Skłowdowska-Curie fellows, was an enriching opportunity and I anticipate our connections will go on to shape transatlantic relations in the future. I’d like to thank Fulbright Portugal for the nomination, as well as the many panelists and organizers who made the experience unforgettable.”
