Laetitia Gaspar is a Ph.D student in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine, at the Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology – University of Coimbra. In her Ph.D, Laetitia is investigating if one of the most common sleep disorders worldwide – Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) – promotes/accelerates cellular aging, using human blood cells. At CCHMC, Ohio, Laetitia plans to deeply investigate the associated cellular and molecular mechanisms of aging in an OSA animal model. Laetitia expects that her research will contribute to a better understanding of OSA consequences, helping in OSA diagnosis and treatment, and highlighting the importance of a healthy sleep.
