Inês Gomes Marques: Universidade de Lisboa – University of California, Berkeley

(8 months)

Inês’ research is focused on emerging introduced pathogens causing a current loss of endemic vegetation in riparian ecosystems. Her stay in the Forest Pathology and Mycology Lab in Berkeley with experts holding a vast curriculum in forest tree pathology research, including riparian ecosystems, will expand her research to other riparian tree species. It will allow her to have a broader picture of diseases’ implications to the riparian ecosystems. The work developed at the lab will help Inês to explore potential host plant protection and potential pathogen outbreaks.
