Helena is a Ph.D student at the University of Coimbra, where she is currently developing nanoparticles to target and clear senescent cells as a therapeutic strategy for age-related cardiovascular diseases. Her project is being developed in collaboration with Dr. João Passos’ from the Department of Physiology & Biomedical Engineering of Mayo Clinic, Minnesota, USA. Which will greatly impact Helena’s career, giving her the opportunity to work with a team of prestige researchers on ageing, but also for allowing her to expand cultural perspectives on this field.
