Luís Cruz is an economist and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Coimbra. He is also a researcher at the Centre for Economics and Business Research and an active member of the Energy for Sustainability Initiative. His research interests include the modelling and analysis of environmental and socio-economic interactions, as well as impacts estimation at local, (inter-)regional and/or country levels, with a policy-oriented focus.

During his research stay at the University of Virginia, in the Spring semester 2025, Luís Cruz will have the opportunity to work with the members of the Center for Economic and Policy Studies at UVA’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, whose major areas of work include local and regional economic assessment in the framework of the Energy Transition Initiative. Such context provides an excellent platform to delve into renewable energy integration across diverse geographic territories, regional economic modeling, and the development of economic impact databases.
