Joana Gomes
Joana Gomes holds a master’s degree in Social Work from ISCTE- University Institute of Lisbon and a bachelor’s degree in also in Social Work from the University of Azores. Currently, she is a student in the post-graduate veterinary social work certificate program at the University of Tennessee. Her research work focuses on understanding the dynamics of veterinary social work within veterinary clinic settings. Specifically, Joana will investigate how the integration of social workers contributes to the overall quality of services provided by veterinary teams. As a Visiting Student Researcher at the University of Tennessee, Joana will have the unique opportunity to delve into the field of veterinary social work where the term originated. This experience will provide invaluable exposure to practical applications of veterinary social work, a field yet to be established in the Azores or even Portugal.
