Sara Mesquita
Sara Mesquita is a Ph.D. student in Global Public Health at LIP’s Social Physics and Complexity Lab and Nova Medical School. Her research aims to improve the predictability of the spread of (infectious) diseases in complex techno-social systems, incorporating the dynamic nature of human behavior into algorithms and predictive models. As a Visiting Student Researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Sara is keen to employ Geographic Information Systems to capture the dynamic patterns of human behavior, applying map design in an ethical, accessible, and responsible manner. Additionally, working with Sarah Williams at the Civic Data Design Lab, Sara will also create cutting-edge Data Visualization solutions that can help effect policy change and drive public action.
