Paulo Faria is a Ph.D. student in Biomedical Sciences at the Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar and is currently developing his project at i3S – Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde, University of Porto, Portugal. Paulo’s work mainly aims to create a novel multistage cancer vaccine that effectively tackles glioblastoma (GBM), the most common and lethal type of brain cancer. For this, Paulo will combine different therapeutic compounds into a nano-sized system to achieve a strong chemoimmunotherapeutic response against GBM. With the support of the Fulbright Commission, Paulo will join Professor Mansoor Amiji’s Lab at Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts,  and will take this opportunity to optimize and test the engineered system in biologically relevant GBM preclinical models.
