Ana Teresa Freitas is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the President of the School Assembly at Instituto Superior Técnico at the University of Lisbon. Her scientific work focuses on computational biology, human genomics, and preventive medicine. During her stay with the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics at the National Cancer Institute in Rockville, Washington D.C., she will work with Professor Jonas de Almeida in the fields of polygenic risk scores, radiogenomics, and genomics medicine. She will develop new algorithms to improve polygenic risk models, exploring deep learning techniques on datasets with hundreds of thousands of genomes.
