Helena is a PhD student in Biomedical Sciences at Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar, and is carrying out her project at Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde (i3S), University of Porto. Helena’s work focuses on the development of anisotropic nanoparticles for enhanced oral delivery of therapeutic peptides, particularly in the context of type I diabetes mellitus management. As a visiting student in Dr. Giovanni Traverso’s lab at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, she plans to further characterize the behavior of insulin-loaded anisotropic nanoparticles in biorelevant ex vivo platforms.
