Catarina Costa
Catarina is a 2-year PhD student researching the role of post-translational modifications in LANA, a crucial protein for the survival of the oncogenic virus KHSV in the human body. Catarina’s aim is to understand how the virus interacts with the host by disrupting these modifications and finding suitable targets that can impair viral survival, leading to the development of new antiviral treatments and insight into other DNA tumor viruses. At Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, she will learn and use new approaches to further characterize LANA mutants and evaluate their survival.
