Vasco Mendes
Vasco Mendes is focusing his research on the atmospheric re-entry of space vehicles and the design of their thermal protection systems, dealing with aerothermodynamics and hypersonic flows. During his stay at the NASA Ames Research Center, Vasco will work in the development of a numerical tool to compute the radiative heat flux that impinges on the surface of space vehicles during re-entry, based on machine learning techniques and, in particular, using artificial neural networks.
