His research focuses on the forms of representation and their role in architectural design teaching, having as case studies FAUP and AUIC – Politecnico di Milano. The Fulbright grant brought to him the possibility to develop field work in an American architecture school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and to include it as a third case study. During the period of stay at MIT, Rafael will develop different activities: participatory and non-participatory observation of teaching processes in architectural design courses; interviews and conversations with professors and students; and analysis of artifacts and bibliographic and documentary review.
