Luís Grilo is a Ph.D. student in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine at the University of Coimbra. In his project, Luís aims to unravel the mechanisms of cardiac disease programming and premature aging in offspring born to obese mothers. At San Antonio, Texas, Luís will collaborate with Dr. Peter W. Nathanielsz’ group, a worldwide expertise in developmental programming research. As a visiting student researcher at Texas Pregnancy and Life Course Health Research Center, Luís will work with an ongoing animal cohort and will perform gold-standard molecular biology techniques to explore developmental programming-aging interactions in the heart.
