February 2019 (2 months) – Chemistry

Professor Carlos Geraldes’ proposal is designed to contribute to the development of non-invasive CEST MRI techniques capable of imaging extracellular lactate production in animal model tumours, allowing a better understanding of the biological basis of the Warburg effect in cancer and future use to follow the outcome of anticancer therapies. Professor Geraldes will use his background on MRI to improve the use of CEST technology in cancer diagnostics and therapy monitoring.
