U.S. Students receive their Fulbright Awards

On May 5th the Fulbright U.S. grantees received their Fulbright Awards in recognition of the attribution of a Fulbright scholarship during academic year 2016/2017.

The ceremony occurred before the 2017 edition of the Fulbright Portugal Forum at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics and Management and was hosted by Dr. Mário Caldeira, President of ISEG, and Mr. Curtis Stewart, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fulbright Commission. Mr. Mark Pannell, Public Affairs Officer at the United States Embassy in Portugal and Member of the Board also participated and addressed an audience of former and current Fulbright grantees, Board members and partners.

The U.S. Fulbrighters who received their Awards are:

Brandon Kapena Baptista, who has a B.A. in Music and Social Anthropology by Harvard College and is the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) at Universidade de Lisboa School of Arts and Humanities;

Catherine Salgado, who has a B.A. in Spanish / Creative Writing by the Univeristy of Arizona and is the Fulbright ETA at Instituto Politécnico da Guarda;

Jacqueline Rojas, who has a B.A. in International Affairs by the Florida State University and is a Fulbright Research Student at ULisboa School of Economics and Management (ISEG), Centro de Estudos sobre África, Ásia e América Latina (CEsA);

Jamila Espinosa, who has a B.A. in Latin American Studies / Sociology by Pomona College and is the Fulbright ETA at Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco;

Phillip Wenturine, who has a M.F.A. in Creative Writing / Portuguese Literature by the Eastern Kentucky University and is the Fulbright ETA at Instituto Politécnico de Santarém.
