Recognition of U.S. academic credentials (higher education) in Portugal

The Directorate-General for the Higher Education (DGES - Direcção-Geral do Ensino Superior) is the competent governmental body that confers recognition to U.S. higher education academic degrees, namely, Bachelor, Master e Ph.D., in Portugal.

The process of recognition is simple and fast. The DGES accepts submission of the Diploma and Transcript written in English (no need for a translation) and after a payment of a fee, they will recognise the academic degree in less than one month. Recognition is exclusively given to institutions that are accredited by one of the CHEA or the Department of Education recognised accrediting agencies.
